Thus, S-IPS and AS-IPS today can no longer be found not only in stores, but also in the offices of budgetary institutions. They began production in 1998; they were expensive, but at the same time they had a long response time and low contrast.
H-IPS matrices appeared in 2006, E-IPS in 2009, and P-IPS in 2010. These are already really high quality models. Thus, monitors with an E-IPS matrix, for example, differ slightly in price from devices with a TN matrix, but outperform the latter in quality, which is why such monitors are also on sale today.
PLS is another type of IPS, which is a proprietary development of Samsung in 2010. AH-IPS is also a modern modification of IPS from the same company. If you are confused about these varieties, then just buy a monitor latest models with IPS matrix. They are unlikely to install matrices of old types.
If you want to choose the “average” option with a good, but not too expensive matrix, then best choice may become a monitor with a VA matrix. In terms of price-quality ratio, the monitor is ideal; it gives 110% worth of money. The 144 Hz frequency is enabled in the video card settings, I had to dig around and didn’t find it right away. By the way, most consumers should opt for just such a solution and not overpay two or three times - only a few will see the difference and only a part of them will use at least half of the functions presented in models in the highest price range.

When we are talking about games in a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, then, with a high degree of probability, the user has (and if not, then must have) one of the top video cards from NVIDIA installed. In this case, the monitor would benefit from support for NVIDIA G-Sync technology, and the presented monitor is the only one on the market in the 27-inch 4K IPS segment.
Why you should buy: Without a top-end video card from NVIDIA, you won’t be able to play comfortably in 4K resolution, and where the “green” stuff is, a G-Sync module won’t hurt to increase smoothness and reduce the number of frame tearing.
What can stop: understanding that your system is not ready for games in 4K resolution at high graphics settings; mandatory use of the Windows OS scaling system.
A new BenQ monitor from the well-known and proven professional series, with all the capabilities inherent in this class and high-quality factory settings. It's just starting to become available, but if you're a discerning user who prefers to work in an expanded color space, it's definitely worth waiting and seeing for yourself.
Why you should buy: Models of this level rarely appear in this class - do not miss your chance, unless, of course, you are sure that an extended central heating center is a real necessity and not just a whim.
What can stop: perhaps only the price and the need to use the Windows OS scaling system.
Alternative: You can save money with the less thoughtful Viewsonic VP2785-4K, or splurge on the first and so far only (as of March 2018) true HDR monitor Dell UP2718Q. It's not perfect, there are significant problems with access to the built-in LUT, and there are some unpleasant features of the backlight system, but that's why it's the first of its kind.
Why you should buy: You have a modern computer with Windows installed and you really want to see the clearest and crystal clear picture from the screen.
What can stop: glass working surface with minimal anti-glare properties, a serious load on the system, the need to use the problematic Windows scaling system on an ongoing basis.
Why you should buy: everything in one bottle, easy connection, maximum quality image.
What can stop: price (although it never stops Apple fans), lack of hardware control of RGB and other screen parameters, high load on the system, semi-gloss working surface of the display (though with a good anti-glare layer).
