The 2018 Unified State Exam campaign is coming to an end in Russia, and even the second wave of exams is coming to an end. However, checking exams takes time, and at the moment graduates are waiting for the latest results of the Unified State Exam of the first wave.
Some people already realize that they did not score enough points - much less than the student expected before taking the exams. Some people haven’t received all the results and are worried about what to do if there aren’t enough points. What if I didn’t get the required points on the Unified State Exam, is it possible to enter the institute, what other options remain for the applicant in 2018.
First of all, it’s worth, of course, understanding what “few points for the Unified State Exam” means. Some of the graduates studied excellently all their lives and hoped for at least 80-90 points for each Unified State Exam, scored an average of 77 and considered that life was over. And someone has completely failed the Russian language or mathematics and risks being left without a certificate of education as such, even before college here at all.
Two situations can be considered a minor disaster:
- the student was unable to pass one of the mandatory exams (Russian language or mathematics) and risks being left without an education document,
- The student did not achieve the minimum Unified State Exam scores set by Rosobrnadzor (we have previously provided a table of minimum scores for each Unified State Exam on our website).
The way out of the first situation is a retake. At the moment, those schoolchildren who were unable to pass the mandatory Unified State Exam in 2018 in the first wave know about this and even managed to retake the exams in the additional stage of the Unified State Exam. The results of these Unified State Examinations will come on July 10-11.
If, based on the results of retaking the mandatory Unified State Exam graduate gets enough points, and his elective state exam results are in perfect order, he can try to enroll in a university in the same year. If the exams are failed again, retaking is possible only in September. Of course, you can forget about the institute, at least in 2018.
If a graduate has successfully completed the mandatory Unified State Exam, but failed in one of the elective exams, and the number of points scored is below the minimum, he will not be able to enter the institute. Universities simply do not have the right to accept applicants if they provide Unified State Examination results below the minimum threshold from Rosobrnadzor, reports CCI-Inform. Even for paid training.
There is nothing wrong with this option. Giving up at the first small difficulty, giving up higher education because of a minor failure, is not the best start to adult life. Even if a student is accustomed to having everything easily and simply, it’s time to learn how to achieve his goal.
A graduate needs to understand that missing a year is not a big deal at all. It's better to get a diploma higher education a year later than not having it at all. Unless, of course, it really is that important.
What to do during this year is up to you to decide depending on the situation. Most likely, young people are taking the risk of joining the army, and it will be a little easier for girls.
But the main thing you need to do this year, if you are not in the army, is to prepare diligently for retaking the Unified State Exam. The results of the exams that suit you will be valid for four years, so you can focus on a problematic subject, in which the Unified State Exam was passed with too low scores.
Remember that graduates of previous years take the Unified State Exam earlier than the main wave - in the spring. So you will have less than one year to prepare.
This is a way out for those who scored few points on the Unified State Exam, but still more than the minimum that closes the way to universities.
If all options for enrolling on a budget are impossible or uninteresting, enroll in a paid department. Of course, there must be financial opportunities for this. You may have to study and work at the same time.
This solution is suitable for everyone. Even if you failed both mandatory Unified State Examinations and retaking it is impossible (and if you fail to pass two mandatory Unified State Examinations at once, this is exactly the situation), you can always use your ninth grade certificate.
With this certificate you can enter a college, technical school or other secondary educational institution. We advise you to pay attention to colleges at universities. Quite often, such colleges associated with institutes or universities are the suppliers of applicants for them.
Graduates have already begun to receive their Unified State Examination points, and for many the result came as a shock. How is it possible – I spent so many years preparing, spent so much time and effort on tutors, and the scores, let’s just say, weren’t what I wanted!
To put it mildly, it's a slap in the face! - Elena, the mother of a graduate from Nizhnevartovsk, complains. - The medal-winning daughter wrote her thoughts in an essay for the Unified State Exam in Russian. And I got 0 points! And so it is with many talented students. Punished for their own opinions!
“I don’t understand how an excellent student, a participant in math olympiads, can pass the Unified State Examination in this subject with 70 points,” Oksana, the mother of an 11th-grader from Kazan, shakes her head. - My son is just in some kind of trance now. Previously, I wanted to go to MIPT, I was passionate about it, but now I’m saying that I’ll go into the army, since that’s what happened.
Sometimes parents only add fuel to the fire, and, frankly, you can understand them - preparing for exams costs a pretty penny. They take it out on themselves and on their children. There have already been reports from the regions about children who committed suicide after the announcement of the exam results. But the hardest part - entering a university and waiting for results - is yet to come!
So we asked family psychologist Mikhail Zotov tell you how to survive the results of the unified exams and cope with the situation.
STRESS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
The hysteria around the Unified State Exam is now colossal. The exam is criticized by everyone: it is both too difficult and too simple, and everyone is writing it off, and the security measures are draconian.
No matter where you spit, everything is wrong! Got a hundred points? So this exam was easy! Got 20? I'm a fool myself, I should have studied better. Got caught with a cheat sheet - even more so! And no matter what grade the child receives, there will always be a reason to worry.
Even when the exam has already been passed, the graduate experiences enormous stress, Mikhail Sergeevich is sure. “Everyone has their own expectations regarding his result - parents, teachers, himself, in the end. And when these expectations do not coincide with the results, the student experiences disappointment and anger. This anger can be directed at oneself, at parents - they did not support, or at school - they did not teach.
Parents, by the way, have their own reason for dissatisfaction. So much money was spent on tutors - and all in vain, or what?
It is important for parents to capture this feeling: I have invested so much in your studies, but it turns out that everything has gone nowhere,” notes Mikhail Zotov. - It is doubly difficult for a child in such a situation: he himself is upset by his lack of success, even if he does not show it. And failure to meet parents’ expectations only aggravates this, adding feelings of guilt and shame.
In general, not emotions, but a Molotov cocktail! Add raging teenage hormones and conflict is guaranteed. As if the child didn’t have enough family quarrels.
EMERGENCY PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE
What to do in a situation when everyone is already on edge? First of all, try to accept the situation as it is. There are no ways to change Unified State Exam scores with the wave of a magic wand. Even on appeal, in the best case, they can raise the score by a couple of points - but even the most supportive commission will not turn 70 points into 100.
We need to understand the situation here and now,” continues Mikhail Sergeevich. - Yes, it’s a disappointment, but life is not over. It is important to give the child positivity and support. If a teenager did not pass the Unified State Exam or did not enter a university, this does not mean that he is bad! This only means that he prepared less than necessary.
Instead of quarrels and mutual accusations about who didn’t do what and how, it’s worth sitting down and everyone thinking through a future strategy together.
You need to talk to the teenager and think about which university you can try to enroll in,” the psychologist explains the strategy. - Immediately register where he will go if he doesn’t get there. And what will he do if he is not accepted into any of the selected universities? Maybe it makes sense to study more and retake the exams next year.
IMPORTANT!
Six tips: What to do if you fail the Unified State Exam
File an appeal about disagreement with the results. This can be done within 2 working days from the announcement of the results. But it is worth remembering that an appeal can either raise or lower the grade.
Choose another specialty. Within one field of study, a university may have several specialties with different passing scores. You can submit documents where the threshold is lower.
Choose another university. It’s trivial, but if you wish, you can always re-enroll the next year, or simply transfer while maintaining the course.
Study and pass the Unified State Exam next year. Certificates with scores are valid for four years, so if your attempt fails, you can always apply using your old results.
Go to college. For many specialties - for example, designers or jewelers - there is absolutely no way without this.
Try to find a part-time job in your intended specialty. Not for the sake of money, but to immerse yourself in the profession, gain experience and understand how suitable it is for a graduate.
The fate of a graduate largely depends on the results of passing the Unified State Exam. And it is not surprising that the degree of nervousness among schoolchildren is off the charts. According to experts, it is anxiety, and not gaps in knowledge, that often leads to failure in the exam. However, you should not consider that your “only chance” has been missed: the Unified State Exam can be taken again. And in some cases, graduates even have the right to even two retakes in the current year.
Rules for retaking the Unified State Exam if the result is unsatisfactory
If an eleventh grader does not score the minimum required for a positive grade in one of the required subjects (Russian language or mathematics at a basic or specialized level), he can take the exam again. This can be done in accordance with the unified exam schedule. reserve days. And, if the retake is successful, the graduate has every chance of entering a university in the year of graduation.
If unsatisfactory result again- you can try to pass the exam again, in additional autumn terms. In this case, there will no longer be a chance of entering a university - but a school leaving certificate (which is not issued in the case of a “D” in one of the compulsory subjects) will allow you to continue your studies at a college or technical school.
It should be noted that:
- graduates who do not meet the threshold in two compulsory subjects at once do not have the right to retake the Unified State Exam this year - they will have to continue the struggle to obtain a certificate in a year;
- if a graduate has passed mathematics at both the basic and specialized levels and has passed the threshold for at least one of these exams, the exam is considered passed;
- retaking the Unified State Examination in mathematics is possible both at the basic and at the specialized level (at the choice of the examinee);
- Graduates of previous years do not have the opportunity to retake an exam that they passed unsatisfactorily.
Graduates who do not score the minimum number of points in their elective exams will be able to retake the exam only next year.
Who else has the right to retake the Unified State Exam in additional terms?
Unified State Exam participants who started taking the exam but were unable to complete the test for a valid reason, documented, have the right to retake the exam on reserve days. The most common case is a deterioration in health during the exam (the fact of illness must be recorded by a doctor).
In addition, those who during the exam encountered technical and organizational “overlaps” at the Unified State Examination point (for example, lack of additional forms, power outages, etc.) have the right to retake the test. In addition, if the organizers of the Unified State Exam committed violations in the conduct of the exam, the results of all participants may be canceled - and the tests will have to be repeated.
Note! If a Unified State Exam participant is removed from the classroom for using a phone or caught trying to cheat, his results are canceled, and the right to retake the exam at additional times is not granted - and he will be able to try his luck again only after a year.
Who can improve their exam results this year?
Only graduates of previous years have the opportunity to improve their exam results without waiting for next year - they can retake the Russian language or specialized mathematics in additional autumn terms.
Many people believe that a Unified State Exam participant who has passed the threshold but did not pass the exams well enough can, of his own choice, retake one of the exams in order to improve his scores. Unfortunately, this is a myth - for such cases, the rules for passing the Unified State Exam do not provide for a second attempt.
Is it possible to retake the Unified State Exam in a year?
Right to re passing the Unified State Exam for people who have already graduated from school, there are practically no restrictions. After a year, you can retake the Unified State Exam in any number of subjects - both compulsory and elective.
By this time, a former student has already received the status of a “graduate of previous years” and can:
- improve your result in a single subject by retaking only it (the results of other tests are valid for four years);
- retake all subjects;
- change your “profile” and take exams in other disciplines;
- If the university admissions committee awards additional points for your final essay, you can retake it.
Graduates of previous years can take exams either in the early or in the main period - at their own choice, but they cannot take exams twice in one year.
Is it possible to retake the Unified State Exam if I have already entered a university?
You can retake the Unified State Exam more than once, regardless of how long ago you graduated from school. This can be done by students, graduates of technical schools and lyceums, and people who already have higher education.
Therefore, if a graduate did not get enough points for admission to the “dream university” and took the documents to a less prestigious educational institution, or was disappointed in the chosen field of study and wants to radically change the field of study, the student’s status will not become an obstacle.
The only “but”: when applying to take the Unified State Exam, a graduate of previous years must present a school leaving certificate - and the original documents are kept at the university. In this case, you need to clarify in advance with the dean’s office what you will need in order to temporarily receive a document on education. As a rule, universities issue original certificates against receipt for a short period of time without any problems. When submitting documents to retake the Unified State Exam, the certificate is not surrendered, but only presented - therefore, it is enough to receive it in your hands for just one day.
What to do if you didn’t pass the Unified State Exam? People who are seriously passionate about goal setting positive thinking and self-improvement, they often say one simple truth: if a door slams in your face, it means five more have opened behind you. Even if your Unified State Exam scores leave much to be desired, and your last hope of getting into a university is dying before your eyes, don’t panic costs. All you have to do is step away from the closed door and turn around.
Door No. 1: paid training
If the fees at the institutes you are trying to attend are too high, do not rush to conclusions. Spend a couple of days on the Internet and carefully look at the websites of universities that you may not have even thought about enrolling in. Compare prices, number of people per place, admission ratings: it’s quite possible to find the best option. Pay attention to non-state universities and branches: Ural Financial and Legal Institute (UrFJI), National Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Ural Institute of Business", Humanitarian University (GU). An important plus: most universities are paid the number of seats is unlimited.Sometimes during the training process it is offered benefits for good and excellent students, for example, the same State University reduces the cost by 100% if the session is passed “excellently”. We’ll share a secret: you can find specialties where there are not even enough applicants. A shortage is not necessarily a sign of low-quality education; sometimes it occurs in rare, specific areas. They take it there, of course, with any points.
Door #2: distance learning
If full-time education is still not affordable for you, consider options evening, part-time or distance learning. For example, a year of distance learning in the specialty “ Social work"at the Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University (RSPU) costs 44,000 rubles, "Management" at the Humanitarian University (GU) - 38,000 rubles, "Applied Informatics" at the Ural Institute of Economics, Management and Law (UIEMUiP) - 37,200 rubles. The correspondence course goes well with work, hobbies and, if necessary, preparation for the Unified State Exam.
Door No. 3: colleges at universities, secondary vocational education
There are many benefits to attending college. First, all you need to enroll is WithAverage score on the State Examination Test and certificateon completion of 9th or 11th grade. Secondly, a college at a university will become a strong bridge on the way to the desired institute. In Yekaterinburg there is a Medical College at USMU, IMS College, USUE College, USFTU College, USUE College, USGUPS College. As a rule, such colleges provide excellent preparation for admission, they invite institute teachers to help you smoothly prepare for student life, including psychologically. Lectures, seminars and sessions will no longer come as a shock to you. You can stop at secondary vocational education, without considering going to university after college. This option is suitable for those who have chosen a profession where secondary education will be sufficient when applying for a job. Here are just some of the places where you can go: Ural College of the Beauty Industry (UrKIK), Ural Polytechnic College, Ural College of Technology and Entrepreneurship, Ural Radio Engineering College A.S. Popov (URTC), Ural College of Construction, Architecture and Entrepreneurship, Sverdlovsk College of Arts and Culture, Ural State College named after. I.I. Polzunov, etc. You can learn almost anything: from economics and linguistics to hairdressing and architecture.
Door No. 4: work
No one is stopping you from devoting this year to receiving real skills.You have a greater chance of finding a good part-time job, even if you have no experience, than your student peers; employers will be incredibly pleased with your independence from the university schedule. There are many advantages behind this door: new people, experience, partial financial independence from parents, and, of course, the opportunity to purposefully prepare for the Unified State Exam next year. Again, do not think that work will be limited to walking in a cheburek costume and handing out papers. Often Advertising sites are looking for office assistants, consultants in large chain stores, operators in call centers, etc.
Door #5: gap-year
You can, taking foreign schoolchildren and students as an example, dedicate this year impressions. More often "gap year" taken just after school before entering university. This is a great opportunity to see the world, communicate with people, try yourself in different fields, decide on the choice of specialty, weigh all the pros and cons. In addition, you gain the opportunity to focus only on those subjects that you need for admission, and not be scattered throughout the entire school curriculum. Go to speaking courses, master classes in sand drawing, to the pool - engage in self-development, spend this time usefully for soul, mind and body and it will definitely return to you as a plus.
P.S.
In every second biography famous people there is a line about how they were not accepted into university the first time, got bad grades at school, were considered incapable of learning, but this did not stop them from achieving success in the field that is truly interesting to them. The world will not stop spinning if you you will get into the university of your dreams not today, but in a year, even if now it seems different to you. Whatever door you choose, remember the main thing: studying is only part of a big and interesting life, in which there are many paths. Was the information useful? Share with other applicants!Hi all.
Today, as soon as I woke up, I immediately started watching Unified State Exam result mathematics. When I typed my passport details, my hand was shaking, and I had a lot of thoughts in my head.
When I saw my result, I burst into tears and ran to my mother. From everything she saw, my mother realized that I had not passed the threshold.
Mathematics has always not been easy for me, and I was always afraid of the Unified State Exam in this subject. It seems like there’s nothing to type here, you only need to do 5 tasks. But it’s not even about the assignments, it’s about the environment in which you write. You sit like a prisoner within 4 walls, several pairs of eyes, a camera, and so on are watching you. And at this moment you are not thinking about algebra, but about how something might fall out of your hands (although I didn’t carry anything with me), you were afraid to even move, since observers would immediately suspect you of something. We all say in words that everything is easy, but as soon as you enter and immerse yourself in this environment, it is really very scary. I don’t understand why they came up with this Unified State Exam, this is such psychological pressure on children, this is an eternal fear of all kinds of tests and so on. For me, it would be better if the subjects were taken orally, it is much simpler, and knowledge is shown well only when you personally communicate with a person. But the test will not show all this.
And for that matter, at school the teachers completely stopped explaining everything. They moved on to having one continuous test solution.
Now I need to prepare for a retake, and it’s such a shame when you don’t need algebra for admission, but you’re still preparing for it. Although I’m sure you passed the other subjects well.
life is not fair.

Hello Sasha.
I understand your feelings very well, I took the Unified State Exam a year ago.
In fact, you are very lucky that you can retake the test now instead of waiting a whole year. And you will definitely pass! Just practice and don’t be so nervous during the exam itself... you have nothing to be afraid of, you have no cheat sheets with you, no phone, you don’t even have the same burden of responsibility as when taking a subject for admission.
Is it possible to study with someone before the retake? A teacher, a tutor, someone who is well versed...
Regarding injustice, life will throw up many more surprises, and the Unified State Exam, tests, exams are not the worst. But this can be dealt with, although it is difficult and difficult.
By the way, in universities, too, a testing system is now being actively introduced, and teachers do not explain anything (since the student must learn everything himself and only ask questions at the seminar)... this is just in case, so that he is not surprised later.
Sasha, good luck to you, you will definitely pass this math (I can’t stand it myself...).

Hello Sashun!
Honestly, I feel very sorry for you guys who have to take the Unified State Exam and similar tests. I graduated from school even before these innovations, but writing exams was a very exciting thing even then. When entering the university, I also wrote tests, and yes... I filled something out incorrectly, and that’s it, your result is not considered. Like this.
But still, try to calm yourself down and don’t view all this as a catastrophe on a universal scale. I understand that everything is being pushed this way from all sides: parents, teachers, classmates. But life doesn’t end there!!! On the contrary, perhaps it is just beginning. Haven't you seen the movie Between Heaven and Earth? (I think that's what it's called). It’s about a girl who studied very well, but didn’t pass the exams for medical school and became a simple nurse, but she cared for the sick with such love, did so much for them, worked, forgetting herself!!!
I’m telling you this because it may seem to us that failure or the worst misfortune for us can turn on the contrary into something very good!!! It can make us stronger, better, more courageous. Of course it hurts a lot. But remember “through thorns to the stars”!
I would advise you to go to church, pray, venerate the icons, and ask God for help in preparing for the exam. St. Sergius of Radonezh and Righteous John of Kronstadt especially help in matters of study; St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and Matrona of Moscow are very quick to help. Just pray to whoever you want, light some candles.
Everything will be fine, Sash!!!
Seraphima, age: 24 / 06/16/2014
Dear Alexandra! I'm sure everything will be fine with you. There is no need to be offended by life. She is who she is. And its essence will not change further. The point is to learn what you don't know yet. Grow. Some find it more difficult to communicate with the teacher. Some people find written work more difficult. But in the future you will encounter both. Job resumes, work reports, you have to meet various requirements (not always close and understandable) and so on.
Even in a job you love, not everything comes with equal ease. This means that a person must have the tenacity to attack difficult things, not retreat, and bite into them. This is brought up (including) on “unloved” subjects.
In life you need stress resistance. That is, the ability to cope with your anxiety, panic, and reluctance. This quality is not given to a person at birth, but is cultivated over time (or not cultivated) in various difficult situations for you. Today they seemed difficult, but tomorrow it’s even funny how you could be afraid of it. So you've already grown a little. Became stronger.
Tune in to the fact that you are preparing not for admission, but for life. Because even after admission, life continues. And after NOT admission, life goes on. And after graduation, life goes on. Nowadays, for schoolchildren, admission is a certain line, beyond which you cannot see, beyond which you cannot think: enroll, and everything will be fine... So you are sure. After admission there is the same life, worries and exams.
It's a shame because you lose sight of the true meaning, you become zombied to one single task, which in fact is not even the most important.
Don't let the difficulties scare you! Look at everything from positive side. Take advantage of everything for yourself. Even from failures! Then victories will definitely come.
Elena Ordinary, age: 38 / 06/16/2014
Sasha, the threshold has become 3 points, maybe it has passed?
Artyom, age: 17/06/16/2014
Sasha, if you scored 4 TEST points, then you passed, you don’t need to retake anything. I understand you, I wrote the exam just like you and also honestly. I hope for a good result, which I wish for you. I want to give you advice: never panic before something important, whether it’s an exam or something else. Always control yourself, excitement and panic will not lead to success, I understand that you are a girl and you have much more emotions, but still you should not show excitement, at least outwardly .Yes, others will say that you are self-confident, etc., but believe me, if you tell yourself “I am confident in my success,” you will already get rid of many obstacles on your way. And these tests don’t really mean anything like you she said it herself. You know, once a teacher at St. Petersburg State University told me: There is no such profession as an Olympiad winner or a 100-point student in the Unified State Examination. These tests are only needed for admission to a university where you will get a profession, so don’t worry and go with the mindset that you will write everything. Don’t look at anyone, decide for yourself. If you still haven’t passed the threshold, good luck retake, everything will be fine, the main thing is don’t give up and believe in yourself and your success
