Sooner or later in the life of every schoolchild, there comes a time when it is necessary to apply the accumulated knowledge that has been acquired over eleven years of study in everyday life. This choice is very important, and in life it is characterized as fateful. After all, it is on him that the future position in society, status, and, of course, wages depend. This moment comes unexpectedly, and one of the first questions after its onset will be: “What should applicants expect this year?”
It is worth understanding that getting an education in our country is not so easy. More and more universities are practicing training on a commercial basis. There are still budget places available, although the competition for some of them is striking in its vastness.
And this year it will only increase, with a decrease in budget places. But if you have a fairly broad knowledge base, there is no need to worry; you will easily enter the educational institution you need. Overall, don't expect to achieve your educational goals easily this year. There are two main reasons for this:
- Reduction in the number of budget places (the country is currently not in the easiest financial situation. And no matter how the government strives to protect education from problems, there will still be small losses. So there will be even fewer budget places in 2018. This topic is especially acute will affect those who have chosen the path of distance learning.)
- Reduction in state funding for universities (For reasons also related to the economic situation, the state may reduce or completely eliminate funding for a number of higher education institutions. This may lead to their closure, which in turn will increase the number of applications for a place in the remaining universities.)
Hard daily work will guarantee admission to your dream university
What will happen to the government order?
State order, these are state applications. authorities for the purchase or receipt of products and services. The situation with the state This year's order looks promising. It was officially announced that budget places in the field of specialist training will be retained in the following areas:
- Natural Sciences
- Healthcare
- Pedagogy
- Physics
- Mathematics
But in the field of jurisprudence and economics, on the contrary, a decrease in funding is planned, due to the oversaturation of the labor market with specialists this profile. Also this year, a new trend is emerging, based on an emphasis on full-time education in universities.
Research has shown that students who have received a full-time diploma have knowledge that is an order of magnitude higher than that of their part-time counterparts. In addition to the number of budget places, the ease of admission is directly affected by the average score obtained during the Unified State Examination.
In general, state the order in the field of education promises to be optimistic. Alas, not in all directions
What score is required for admission?
If you want to get into a decent university, be prepared to work hard. After all, they demand the best grades and the highest scores. Unified State Exam results. The average value in this case is 80. This is the score you need to score to get into the university of your dreams. But that's not all.
Most universities that respect their reputation, in addition to the Unified State Exam results, conduct additional interviews and arrange their own tests to personally verify the applicant’s level of knowledge. Universities are less professional and will accept students with fewer points.
It goes without saying that the teaching of knowledge in such an institution will be slightly lower than the most prestigious ones, where the teaching staff is recruited over many years. Such higher educational institutions are a guarantee for those who decided to get into the best institution but were never able to do so.
You are allowed to submit documents from the first week of graduation. You can apply to no more than five universities at the same time. There are many ways to submit documents. If we consider the general options, there will not be so many of them:
- Feedback forums
- Delivery of documents directly into your hands
Negative trends in the education system can also prevent you from enrolling in a university. After all, in Russia they maintain their position without the intention of becoming smaller.
To enter a prestigious university, you need an average score of at least 80
Negative trends in the education system in 2018
The main problem in the field of education for the coming year will be the still imperfect state of the Russian treasury. However, there are a number of other problems:
- Increasing the number of compulsory subjects passing the Unified State Exam. (the Ministry of Education plans to increase the number of mandatory exams. It is possible that three main subjects will have to be taken as early as 2018. Two electives remain untouched. Applicants for the third compulsory subject are physics, history and foreign language.)
- Excessive reforms in the field of education. (This problem has been plaguing the educational system for several years now. Leading teachers are confident that education needs to be given a break.)
- Cancellation of the correspondence course in “state and municipal management” (this reform has caused a lot of noise among political scientists and legal scholars. But for now, it remains unchanged. Management, as well as the faculties of law and economics, still remain available only in the format of full-time education )
This is the state of affairs in the field of education for 2018. Positive points in general, covers the negative ones, which means that 2018 applicants have every chance of entering the university of their dreams.

What documents are required for admission?
Please check whether the university you want to enroll in accepts copies or originals of documents. Copies will be certified directly by the admissions office: do not waste money on notaries.

Moreover, the law does not prohibit filing applications for various shapes training: full-time, evening or correspondence. Schoolchildren who have certificates of winners of university or all-Russian Olympiads receive benefits upon admission. However, in order to use them, the applicant will have to choose only one university and for one direction (3rd paragraph of Article 71 of the Federal Law on Education). Otherwise, the benefit loses its validity, and enrollment is carried out on a general basis based on the results of the Unified State Exam. Restrictions also apply to those wishing to enroll in a military university. Applicants can choose only one educational institution and send certificates, applications and other documents to it. How to submit documents to several universities Documents can be brought to the admissions committee of the institute yourself, or sent to the email or postal address of the educational institution.

In order to enter a civilian university, it is enough to pass the Unified State Exam well.
To become a career military man, this is not enough. Here the choice is much more modest. You can only apply to one military-related institute or university. In addition, you will have to pass physical fitness exams, a medical commission and psychological testing.
However, in order not to miss a whole year, if for some reason you were unable to get into one of the military universities, you can apply to a civilian university where there is a military department. Fortunately, modern civilian universities train specialists who are also in demand in law enforcement agencies.

IN this year applicants are provided with ample opportunities. In addition to the fact that documents can be “scattered” across five universities, at each university you can also try yourself in three specialties. In total, an applicant can write 15 (!!) applications: five universities, each with three faculties. **
In fact, this is an excellent opportunity, practically eliminating the fact of not entering the institute, if, of course, you have at least some knowledge.
In addition, do not forget that there are also correspondence and evening forms of education. If you still fail, you can try to study from them.

Some specialized educational institutions (military, medical) may require additional health certificates. In any case, before submitting documents, you must obtain detailed information either on the official website of the university or directly from members of the admissions committee. It is more convenient if you make several copies of all the listed documents at once.
There is no point in notarizing them. Members of the admissions committee have the right to check the copy with the original on the spot and certify everything themselves.
Since 2012, you can submit documents not only in person, but also by mail, as well as electronically.
When submitting documents to several universities, applicants often hope that the admissions committee will not check the number of documents they have submitted to other educational institutions.
There is no point in relying on this. The commissions will not only check, but also have all the means to do this.

Is it possible to apply to two universities? The legislation of the Russian Federation clearly regulates the rules for admission to universities.
Graduates can apply for admission immediately after receiving a school certificate in parallel to five educational institutions, for three specialties in each.
The restrictions are set to streamline the application process and simplify the calculation of passing scores.

How many universities can you apply to in 2018 in Russia?
In the current academic year, the issue of reducing the number of universities and specialties to which an applicant can apply has been raised from time to time.
So far, the decision has been made only about beneficiaries - Olympic winners, gold medal winners, and others. Now applicants in this category can take advantage of preferential rights to enrollment in only one educational institution and one specialty.
If the winner of the Olympics, for example, wants to apply to several more universities, then he will enroll there on a general basis, that is, he will lose his advantage.
Officials explain this decision due to the great confusion that arose last year in the admission process.
However, “ordinary” applicants should not relax either.
Reception day
Children of military personnel who have served for at least 20 years will have benefits upon admission.
There is no competition for children who do not have parents, and for applicants who took part in hostilities. Many parents assume that graduates of cadet corps have priority in universities of this profile.
However, the same conditions apply to them as to ordinary school graduates.

How many universities can you apply to?
Entering university is one of the most important stages in the life of every person. At this moment, the future student chooses for himself not just a profession, but life path which he will have to walk. A lot depends on the applicant’s decision: future professional achievements, area of employment, opportunities for personal growth, and, of course, the level of remuneration. Therefore, it is so important not to make a mistake in solving such a fateful task. As a rule, long before the “last bell”, school graduates and their parents begin to study and analyze new trends related to passing the unified exam and entering a higher educational institution. The reason for this is the constant reformist spirit of education officials, who every year try to optimize the system with “effective” innovations.
On June 20, universities began accepting applications from applicants. The main stage of the Unified State Exam has not yet ended, but many have already passed all the exams. You can choose where to apply and prepare documents.
Rosobrnadzor reminded what to look for when choosing universities and how to check them. We tested the site to check universities, talked with students and teachers and added our own advice. The Rosobrnadzor test turned out to be not very reliable.
How to check a university
The first thing you need to check is whether the university has an educational license and for which programs state accreditation has been issued.
Ekaterina Miroshkina
economist
If there is no license, a university or other institution does not have the right to teach anything by law. If there is no accreditation, he may teach, but he has no right to issue a state diploma.
At the same time, the university can say that it issues diplomas and even show a sample. But it is not a fact that these are exactly state diplomas. Such a document may not be suitable for one day obtaining a certificate of a professional accountant or the status of a lawyer; it will not be possible to work in government agencies and improve your qualifications.
University students who do not have accreditation are not given a deferment from the army. And if the training is paid, then without a license the tax office will not give a deduction and will not return personal income tax. If parents decide to spend on education maternal capital, without a license it won’t work either.
You can check your license and accreditation using the university map. You can select a university by specialty, region, or check the documents of a specific university. Each university’s card contains its documents with expiration dates. There is also a note about the ban on accepting documents, if there is one.
When checking a university, you must open all the documents on the card, and not just look at the green checkmarks. For example, on June 20 at Moskovskaya high school Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninki) revoked accreditation. And on the map of universities there is a mark that accreditation exists and is valid. But if you try to open the certificate, it will not be there. Everything needs to be checked manually.
By the way, the university website also has a license and a certificate of accreditation. Be careful. Especially if you are applying to a regional university that does not have such fame: many media outlets have written about Shaninka, but they may not have written about some conventional academy of various sciences there. You can submit documents, start studying and then find out that the university is without a license. This is Russia, a lot of things here are without a license.
How many universities can you choose to apply for?
Each graduate can apply to five universities, each with three specialties. You can apply to one university to study on a quota basis, on a budget, or for a fee. There are many possibilities.
How to submit documents
You can submit documents in person, by mail or through the university website. A student from a village near Orel or from Magnitogorsk can send an application to MGIMO or the Medical Academy in St. Petersburg. There is no need to travel to another city at this stage. But you should send documents by registered mail.
What then?
Next comes the fun part: you need to keep track of the lists, ratings and scores. This is a stressful and exciting process because the lists can change every day. All applicants apply for several specialties at once, then they withdraw the documents and change their preferences. One day you can qualify for the competition, but the next you can’t, because a beneficiary came and moved everyone up in the rankings.
First wave. Before August 1, you need to take the original document to some specialty. By this time, the first wave of enrollment ends: something is becoming clearer with the ratings, but not everything. It happens that an applicant ends up in ninth place out of ten, but really wants to enter this particular faculty, where there are few budget places and high scores.
And so he brings the documents and waits for the lists. After lunch on the last day, two more people bring originals to the same department, and they have one point more. That's it, you may no longer be able to meet the budget. You will have to go in the second wave and choose places from the remaining ones. Sometimes you’re just lucky, sometimes everything breaks down at the last moment. Enrollment orders will appear on August 3.
Second wave. If you were unable to enroll in the first wave, you can submit documents for available places until August 6. As a rule, these are universities and specialties where there was a shortage: first applications were submitted, and then they were withdrawn. Most likely, these will not be such prestigious faculties. But even in the second wave you can get on a budget, get a place in a dormitory and a scholarship. Orders based on the results of the second wave will be published on August 8.
Sometimes universities themselves call graduates and invite them to bring original documents to government-funded places. This is done in both the first and second waves.
What to look for when choosing a university?
Everyone has their own preferences. Some people just want to get a higher education, others have the goal of getting to Moscow at any cost, many choose a specialty based on their vocation or put prospects and income first.
But there are general criteria that everyone needs to take into account and check:
- Does the university have a license and accreditation?
- When do they finish accepting applications?
- What exam results are needed for admission?
- Are there creative tests and additional exams?
- What are the health requirements?
- Do I need to undergo additional verification? Even a medalist may not be accepted into a military school.
- What was the actual passing score for the budget last year? It may change, but it will serve as a guide. A good technical university in Moscow can have a passing score of 170 or even less. And sometimes at a regional university the passing score is more than 200.
- How many budget places? The Faculty of Journalism or Marketing can only have 10 budget places, without a dormitory and with a huge competition among medalists. And at the faculty of biotechnology, energy saving and petrochemistry there may be 350 budget places, which can easily be filled by a graduate with a high school diploma from the outback. The big question is who will get better in life (in T-J, for example, journalism department graduates are usually not hired).
- How does the training work: there are universities where they teach in two languages and send you on internships abroad. Or after the first year you have to pass a creative exam and you can lose your place on the budget.
- Who is provided with the hostel? Studying on a budget is not always the same as living in a hostel. Sometimes it is given only from the second year or only for visitors from distant regions.
- For which extra points are awarded. This could be a GTO badge, victory in competitions, Olympiads, or creative competitions.
- How much does paid tuition cost - in case you really want to study at this particular university, but you don’t have enough points.
- Under what conditions can I transfer to a budget place? Sometimes this is possible after the first course.
- How much money will you need to live? Even if you study on a budget and live in a hostel, you still need money. Just settling in another city can cost tens of thousands of rubles, even if there is a place in a hostel. Sometimes the family can’t afford it and it’s better to study where you live.
Farewell to the walls of the school is not just the last bell, beautiful costumes and the last line and school ball, but also the beginning of an important stage in the life of every graduate. The doors to adulthood open before him, but in order to feel confident and reliable in it, he first needs to obtain a higher education, achieving a diploma.
Last year schooling is the period when eleventh graders and their parents begin to study innovations related to the regulations that determine the rules for submitting documents to universities and academies. You need to understand what exams you need to take for your chosen specialties, look at the availability of benefits and bonus points at the selected universities. There is no need to rely on information from previous years in this matter.
In 2018, you can choose 5 universities (or 15 specialties) for admission.
Every year, education officials supplement, reform and make changes to regulations and procedures, clarifying the deadlines, opportunities and rules for enrollment in educational institutions. An important point is how many universities and specialties one graduate can “storm”, because the choice of educational direction affects the opportunity to receive and insure oneself in case of not too high. Let's figure out what rules will apply to applicants in 2018.
Rules for admission to Russian universities
It is worth recalling that in 2018 Russian Ministry Education has subjected the rules regarding admission to universities to the following changes:
- for persons who apply for bachelor's or specialist's degrees, amendments have been made regarding priority beneficiaries. Now applicants who are children of employees have been added to this category national guard Russia, as well as those who are among the employees and military personnel of this unit;
- Universities must now inform potential applicants about the current admissions campaign earlier than last year. If back in 2016, the management of higher educational institutions published admissions news until November 16 of the current academic year, then in 2018 a new rule will apply, according to which all information for applicants must be available no later than October 1. It is expected that this reserve of time will provide an opportunity to better study the requirements put forward by universities and prepare for their implementation;
- new rules come into force for children from Crimea. For several years, they had the right to apply to mainland universities within a special quota. In 2016-2017, they could also apply without the Unified State Exam, or rather, make a choice in favor of all-Russian testing or the admission rules of a specific university. Many schoolchildren tried to avoid the Unified State Exam—for several years, only 38-45% of all Crimean eleventh-graders decided to take the difficult test. From 2018, most likely, Crimeans will be subject to a presidential decree, according to which they are required to take the Unified State Exam.
How many universities can I apply to?
The rules for submitting documents to universities and specialties have not changed: graduates of 11th grade have the right to submit certificates to five institutions of higher education. At the same time, in the selected universities you can check the boxes next to three specialties or areas of training. As a result, the applicant will have the opportunity to get into a budget place in one of 15 specialties, which is not so little for realizing his chance of success.
The points received for the Unified State Exam will show whether it is worth aiming at a prestigious university
The main thing is to track the ratings of previous years and realistically assess your chances based on the points given in the Unified State Examination certificates. Another important point: documents can be sent to any of existing forms training. If you are not sure that you can take a budget place at a hospital, it may be worth playing it safe and submitting certificates for correspondence or evening faculty. In this case, the competition will be much lower, and the scores of applicants will be lower. The university will accept documents in two stages:
- 1st – selection takes place for 80% of the places financed from the state budget;
- 2nd – this is where the remaining budget places are filled and the documents of applicants are moved to the vacant places. This happens due to the fact that students with a high rating submit originals for one specialty in the first wave, freeing up places for the 14 remaining positions in university rankings. So if you're in 21st place out of 20 budget positions available, it's worth waiting. There is a good chance that you will be included in the second wave of enrollment.
Benefits when submitting documents
It should be noted that some categories of graduates continue to enjoy benefits:
- winners and runners-up All-Russian Olympiads in subjects from school curriculum receive +10 points to the applicant's rating. However, it is worth remembering that the winner’s diploma can only be submitted to one educational institution, and documents must be submitted to four more universities in accordance with general rules, so you should choose your priority university responsibly. By the way, the results of the Olympiads are valid for 4 years, so you can take advantage of the achievements that were obtained in the 8th-9th grade;
- Possession of a gold TRP badge, documented volunteerism, a gold medal or an excellent score can also bring benefits in the form of a maximum 10 points. The weight of these achievements in point terms is determined by the leadership of universities. You should not neglect the opportunity to receive additional points, so carefully read the admission rules to become familiar with the rector's policy on this issue.
Features of submitting documents to military universities
It is quite natural that among Russian eleventh-graders there are children who do not consider civilian professions for themselves, but want to become career military personnel. Their choice is institutes and academies of the relevant profile, which differ from ordinary universities not only in the characteristics of their studies, the list of specialties and disciplines, but also in the terms of enrollment. Here we need to focus on two points.
To enter a military university, it is not enough to pass the Unified State Exam – physical training is also important
- Unlike civilian higher educational institutions, for admission to which it is enough to provide Unified State Examination certificates with high scores, admission to a military university requires an additional examination in physical training, passing psychological testing and obtaining a certificate from a medical board. The commission must certify that the graduate’s health will allow him to study at a military university;
- Military universities do not require submitting documents to five institutions and three specialties in each. In this case, you can select only one educational institution and send certificates, an application and related documents to it.
Taking into account the second rule, it is important to insure yourself in case you do not succeed in becoming a military servant this year. You probably don't want to lose a whole year. The graduate has the right to apply to four more civilian universities. Choose universities that have a military department, so that you can later work in military structures and law enforcement agencies on a contract basis.
Another opportunity is provided
