To better understand the process of making strawberry mojito, I recommend studying the proprietary recipe in the video. In the video, a professional bartender will prepare this drink before your eyes and share some nuances that will help prevent irreparable mistakes.
Basic truths
- I advise you to add a couple of fresh basil leaves to the cocktail and grind them together with mint. Basil will give the drink a pronounced spicy taste and aroma. The green variety of basil will add a softer taste, the purple variety will add a richer aroma.
If you don't have lime, you can replace it with lemon, but reduce the amount by half or add a little granulated sugar. Some professionals recommend squeezing the juice from citrus fruits, straining it and then adding it to the drink. The fact is that citrus zest, like white pulp, can give the cocktail an undesirable bitter taste.
- Instead of soda, Sprite or 7UP carbonated drink, which includes lime and lemon juice, is perfect.
- To make the cocktail look more solid, bright and appetizing, I advise you to increase the amount of strawberry syrup, and cut the fresh berries into four parts and add to the finished drink. In addition, this way you save large quantity valuable vitamins.

Basic truths
- In winter, instead of fresh berries, frozen ones are also excellent. They need to be defrosted first, but not completely, and then act according to the recommendations in the recipe.
- In order to soft drink had a richer berry taste, grind the fresh fruits in a blender or mixer until you obtain a homogeneous puree.
- Cane brown sugar works best for this mix. It is lower in calories and not as harmful as regular sugar, since it contains little sucrose and a lot of glucose. In addition, the brown product will enrich the cocktail with pleasant subtle notes of lemon balm.
- Many cooks additionally add a ring of fresh ginger - grate it and chop it together with strawberries. In addition to its magnificent aroma and rich taste, it has a strong stimulating effect on the immune system and helps fight the onset of a cold. Therefore, the drink can be safely used as a medicinal elixir to fight colds.
- I recommend adding cubed ice to the drink, since crushed or crushed ice melts too quickly, cools the cocktail too much, and also dilutes and drowns out the rich berry flavor of the mojito too quickly.

We put the ice in a towel or a thick bag and use the same rolling pin to turn it into crumbs. Fill the glass up to ¾, add rum and top up with Sprite, stir with a long-handled spoon, and decorate the glass with strawberries.

One of the most recognizable cocktails with a worldwide reputation is the Mojito, there are so many recipes for it that everyone will find an option to suit their taste.
There are several versions of the appearance of Mojito. According to one of them, the predecessor of the drink appeared back in the 16th century, when pirates added mint and lime to rum to remove the bitterness from low-quality alcohol.
The traditional version of the Mojito alcoholic cocktail was invented in Cuba. either in 1930 or in 1940 (this fact remains controversial). Only the date and month are known for certain – May 25. Interestingly, local residents still annually celebrate a kind of birthday of the drink on the night of May 25th.
Classic alcoholic cocktail recipe Mojito
During its existence, the alcoholic cocktail Mojito has undergone various modifications. So, in some places, rum is replaced with any strong alcohol, regular white is used instead of cane sugar, Cuban mint is replaced with other varieties, lime is replaced with lemon, etc. But if you want to follow all the traditions, then you need to prepare the drink according to the classic recipe.
The correct composition of the Mojito cocktail
The alcoholic drink consists of the following ingredients:
- white rum (preferably Bacardi or Havana Club) – 40 – 50 ml;
- mint (leaves only) – 7 – 8 pcs.;
- refined sugar – 2 tsp;
- lime – 1 pc.;
- soda – 150 ml;
- crushed ice
Cooking steps:
- Cut the lime into 4 parts. Squeeze juice from 3.
- Place mint leaves, sugar, and lime juice in a tall glass (highball or Collins). Crush all this using a red-tipped bar spoon or mortar.
- Fill 2/3 of the container with ice.
- Pour in rum and soda water, stir gently using a straw.
- Garnish the drink with a lime wedge, ice and mint leaves.
Nuances of preparation, how to mix the ingredients correctly?
There are several tricks that will help you make a Mojito, as in the original recipe.
So, the cocktail is made using the “build” method, that is, it is literally built in the container in which it will be served.
Therefore, you do not need to use any special means to prepare the drink. The main thing is to choose a glass that is tall and as straight as possible. Martini glasses or any other glass that has a stem will not work. After all, to knead mint you need a stable flat bottom.
In a proper cocktail, the proportions of ingredients are 1:3.
Sugar, juice and mint take up the first third, ice the second, and alcohol and/or soda the last. And only in this sequence are all products mixed.
Another important fact is the selection of components. All products must be of high quality and fresh. It is advisable not to replace them with analogues, but to use traditional ones.
- So, you need to take rum white. Perhaps dark varieties may seem tastier, since they have a more pronounced coffee, caramel or chocolate flavor, but in a cocktail this will rather be a disadvantage than a pleasant addition.
- As for mint, you need to take only the most aromatic peppermint varieties. Its leaves contain essential oils, which when ground give the necessary taste and smell. There is no need to add the stem part, otherwise the drink will be bitter. By the way, the grass needs to be kneaded for 20 - 30 seconds, and not crushed. After all, particles that are too small will end up in your mouth or get clogged up in the tube.
- Soda can be replaced with plain sparkling water. But it’s better not to experiment with sweet drinks like Schweppes or Sprite. After all, a cocktail should be refreshing and slightly sour, and these types of soda contain too much sugar. The latter, by the way, can be used in any color.
- The next item is citrus fruits. It’s important to make a note here: lime is not lemon, it has a slightly different taste, so you shouldn’t replace it either.
- And the last important nuance is ice. It should be in the form of crumbs, not cubes or snow. Perfect option- use an icebreaker. If there is none, then to get the desired shape, just take a large piece of ice, wrap it in a towel or thick paper and break it with a hammer, bottle or rolling pin.
Grinding in a blender makes no sense, because the result will be a wet porridge, which is completely unsuitable for a cocktail. And, of course, if the ice is homemade, then when freezing water you should avoid the presence of strong-smelling products in the freezer, since it absorbs all foreign odors.
Making a non-alcoholic cocktail
A non-alcoholic Mojito is mixed in the same way as an alcoholic one, with the exception of rum.
You only need 5 ingredients:
- mint;
- lime juice;
- sugar;
- soda;
Place 4 - 5 green leaves on the bottom of the glass (if desired, it can be replaced with sage or basil), add 2 tsp. sugar and add about 30 - 40 ml of lime juice. Grind the ingredients to create a classic menthol flavor. After this, fill the glass to the top with crushed ice and fill it with sparkling water. Serve immediately after cooking, garnishing the glass with a lime wedge.

How to beautifully serve a Mojito cocktail
The simplest decoration is additional accessories to the drink. Tubes are suitable for these purposes. different colors, sizes or shapes, umbrellas, skewers with strung fruits and berries. Don’t forget about unusual coasters for glasses, which can serve as part of the composition.
You can decorate the glass itself using edible elements:
- a bunch of mint leaves;
- slices of lime, lemon, orange;
- cocktail cherry;
- whole or chopped strawberries, raspberries, blackberries;
- lemon (orange) peel cut with a serpentine;
- unpeeled pieces of tropical fruit, such as pineapple with part of the tail and peel.
A sugar rim looks very impressive in cocktails. To do this, the edges of the glass must be moistened with water. After this, the glass is turned over and placed on a board with scattered granulated sugar and scroll a little. By the way, you can use orange or strawberry juice instead of plain water. Then the outline will be colored.
And to add some flavor to the cocktail itself, you need to use a little trick. To give a more saturated green tint, you can add a little Green Mint syrup. If you want to experiment with the palette and get a bright red or blue colors, then Grenadine and Blue Curacao syrups are suitable.
