Apple devices are admired by many. Flawless body lines, beautiful interface, high-quality applications. But even the owners of iPhones and iPads periodically face problems that arise, such as freezing of downloading applications from the App Store. Below we will analyze the reasons why applications are not updated, downloaded or downloaded, as well as simple step by step instructions how to deal with it.
The essence of the problem, signs and causes
It is rather unpleasant to watch how the application is trying to load onto the smartphone for an hour. Especially when its owner wanted to spend a few pleasant minutes in new game or working in a useful program. And especially if there is nothing else to occupy yourself or if you are running out of time, and the application is extremely necessary. The iPhone becomes a useless piece of plastic or aluminum. But a few simple ways can fix the situation.
How to understand that the application loading is stuck
The icon turns gray and the setup wheel freezes. The application does not react in any way to user actions. Another symptom is an error appears when trying to download an app from the App Store. This can happen with both the iPhone and the iPad. The solutions to the problem are the same for all Apple gadgets with any OS version.
What to do when the app is not updated, downloaded or downloaded from the App Store: step-by-step instructions
Problem: App does not load from the App Store
So, a step-by-step algorithm of how to "bring an iPhone to life." Follow all the steps one at a time, without jumping from beginning to end. Each next step can be a solution to the problem.
Solution: wait for the end of work on Apple servers
Take a look at the news feed. Perhaps there was a notification that the store's servers fell, and technical support is trying to do everything possible to fix the situation. Then you just have to wait, busy yourself with something else.
Solution: check the stability of the internet connection
Check your Internet connection. You can argue that judging by the icon, wi-fi is working at full capacity, or the 3G / LTE icon is clearly lit. But this is not yet a sign of complete order.
What to do: launch the Safari browser and load any page on the Internet. If the page is fully displayed, then the connection is indeed functioning stably. Let's move on to the next step.
Solution: stop then resume downloading the app
If the app still has a gray icon, it makes sense to pause the download.
What you need to do: Press "Pause" on downloading the application (tap on the application icon). Now click on the icon again. Sometimes it helps, and the application restores the download.
Solution: switch to airplane mode
Unexpectedly, the following method may solve the problem. You should switch to the "Airplane" mode, just for a while.
What you need to do: From the Springboard, perform a bottom-up gesture, then select the airplane icon. Airplane mode will turn on. After a couple of seconds, turn it off by tapping the icon again.
Solution: uninstalling the app
Didn't it work out? Delete the application. Indeed, it is very simple.
What actions to perform: click on the gray hovered icon and hold it, the icons will begin to vibrate (go to edit mode), and a small cross will appear on the left of the icons. Click on it, the application will be deleted. Go to the App Store again and try to install the program again.
Solution: running a second installation in parallel
Another non-standard way, little secret that few people know about is the parallel installation of the second application. Indeed, it can revive the former.
What to do: Go to the App Store, select absolutely any application and run it to install. Often, after starting the download of the second application, the first is also restored.
Solution: re-authorization in the App Store
What else to do? For example, re-login to your Apple ID account.
Action to take: Log out of your account. This can be done through the App Store - the "Featured" tab displays your account name. Click on it and select "Quit". Then sign in to your account again, and then try downloading the app again.
Solution: reboot the device
Have you tried rebooting the device? If not, it's worth the risk.
What to do: Press and hold the Power key until the iPhone turns off. Then turn it back on. Check the app icon. Once enabled, the download may resume. Alternatively, try another reboot method - "hard". Press simultaneously two keys - power and Home ("Power" and "Home"). After restarting your smartphone, check the app icon again.
Solution: PC sync
Is the "stubborn" application still hanging? Sync your smartphone with iTunes on your personal computer.
What to do: connect the gadget to a PC on which you first launch the iTunes application. The Apple ID accounts on the smartphone and PC must match, otherwise nothing will work. Check if this is not the case, sign in on both devices under the same account. Synchronize your devices.
Solution: factory reset
If you need the application so much that you are ready to go for a factory reset, then continue reading. However, back up your device first. You are now ready to do a factory reset.
What to do: First, reset the network settings. To do this, go to "Settings", then to "Reset", and then click "Reset network settings". Check the app. Is not downloading? Perform a full factory reset. Go to the same item "Settings", then "General", then "Reset" - and "Reset all settings".
Solution: switch to DFU mode
If this does not solve the problem, the last method remains. Put your smartphone in DFU mode.
What you need to do: Connect your iPhone or iPad with the "harmful" application to the computer running iTunes. Now attention:
If this does not help, it may be worth abandoning the installation of this application, because such manipulations with the device can in the future lead to its unstable operation and malfunctions. Look for alternatives to the app.
By the way, you can still just wait.
Apps in the App Store are not updated
Sometimes the owners of Apple gadgets are faced with such a problem.
One of two ways will help:
Of course, no one is immune from such a problem. Too many possible reasons which can cause problems downloading applications. General recommendations to follow in this case:
- before downloading the app, please pay attention to its size. If it is rather big, make sure that everything is in order with the Internet, then start downloading;
- read the news or ask your friends if there have been notifications from Apple about server outages;
- if you've tried all the methods and got to the most radical - factory reset - think if you really need this application. Perhaps there are alternatives in the App Store, try choosing a different one or return to downloading later, because the "hard" methods of solving the problem cannot pass without leaving a trace for the device, in the future this may result in malfunctions in its operation.
In general, the problem is not so global as to somehow prepare for it in advance. One of the listed methods will help in any case.
Users of Apple products often face the following problem: applications in the App Store are not updated. The company itself does not comment on problems with updates and errors when downloading applications. Users have to search for a solution on their own, going through different stages, from simple to complex.
In order to deal with gray icons when waiting, as well as the fact that applications in the App Store on iPhone are not updated, it is better to perform each stage in turn, since the download can continue at any time, and the need for subsequent actions will simply disappear.
Tracking the news
Before you start getting angry with a smartphone or tablet, you need to drop laziness and go to sites with news related to everything related to Apple products. It is possible that there will be news of problems with the company's servers or problems that the app store is experiencing. The company will do everything that depends on it, because if the applications in the App Store are not updated, it incurs big losses and loses confidence, which is not good.
Checking the Internet connection
One of frequent reasons the problem with the update is the usual lack of an Internet connection or a problem with the surrounding user wireless network... After all, the icon showing that there is a connection does not mean anything yet. No connection - Apps in the App Store are not updated. To eliminate this problem, just open a browser and try to open any page. If all is well, then you need to move on to the next step.
Stop loading
If there is a gray icon that is in a waiting state or a very long time, then you need to stop the download. Why the apps in the App Store are not updating is not entirely clear, but if you tap on the icon and stop downloading, and then click again to resume, the application can continue downloading, and the problem will be solved.
Turning Airplane Mode On and Off
You can try to resume the download by temporarily switching to airplane mode. To do this, you need to swipe from bottom to top and click on the icon with the plane. After a few seconds, you need to turn off the mode again by pressing it again.
Removing the app and reinstalling
If applications are not updated through the App Store, then a complete uninstallation and subsequent reinstallation can help. To do this, you need to hold your finger on the application icon and go into editing mode. After tapping on the small cross that appears, the application will be deleted. You can now launch the app store and reinstall it.
Re-authorization
You can bring a frozen application back to life by logging out and logging back in. To do this, you need to open the application store and go to the "Selection" tab. Here you need to tap on the account name and select "Exit" in the window that opens. Here you will need to re-enter account and then try downloading the app again.
Reboot the device
If the apps in the App Store are still not updated, another treatment option may be to restart your smartphone or tablet. To do this, hold down the power key and turn off the device. After it is turned on again, the application can continue with its installation.
Synchronizing purchases with your computer
If the above steps did not solve the problem, and the applications are still not updated, you need to sync your device with the version of iTunes that is installed on your desktop computer. To do this, the device is connected to a PC running the application. You need to make sure that you are logged into your account correctly. The accounts on the mobile device and computer must be the same. We need the item "Synchronization".
Reset
The cardinal way to help resume downloads is to hard reset your device. Network settings are reset first. If it does not help, then you will have to reset all settings. Before doing this, be sure to back up all the data you need.
DFU mode
This is the last hope. Why aren't apps updated in the App Store? These could be firmware issues. This mode is necessary in order to restore this very firmware. The device connects to a computer running iTunes. Then you need to hold down the power key and immediately after that - Home. After 10 seconds, the device should reboot. The keys must be held down until the company logo appears on the screen. At this moment, you need to release the power button, and continue to hold Home until the iTunes logo appears. After a message appears on the computer stating that the device is in recovery mode, you can exit DFU. You need to hold down both keys again for 10 seconds before restarting your smartphone or tablet.
Most users tend to install apps on their mobile devices from official sources. In the case of Android OS, this is the Google Play store. The main advantage of this method of installing programs is regular updates. Google does not recommend, but still allows you to install applications on your smartphone or tablet downloaded from other sources. However, in doing so, you lose the ability to receive updates for them. As it turned out, there are solutions here, as always, to have up-to-date versions of applications on your device.
There may be several reasons for this. For example, some developers do not want to publish their programs on Google Play, while others are prohibited from doing so by Google if their software product contradicts the rules of posting. Often, large companies, for one reason or another, can set regional restrictions on access to their applications - a striking example of such a case is the game Pokémon GO or the official client of the music streaming service Spotify, which are still not available in the Ukrainian segment of the app store.
It should not be ruled out that Google Play does not work in some countries, including China. Accordingly, the branded shells of the Chinese mobile devices for domestic sale do not contain Google services. AND last reason- this is the fact that recently users of smartphones and tablets have independently abandoned Google services in favor of increasing the autonomy of the device.
The only way to install an application on a smartphone or tablet in such cases is to download its APK file from other resources.
Where can I get Android apps besides Google Play?
There are plenty of such resources on the Internet, but there are not so many reputable and, importantly, safe ones. One of the more popular is the APK Downloader web service, which allows you to download from the Google store Play installation application files. To do this, just insert the address of the page of the desired program on Google Play into the search bar and click the "Generate Download Link" button. APK Downloader will download the app and give you a direct link to the APK file.
Other sources for downloading programs are APKMirror and APKPure resources. Let's make a reservation right away that these sites do not contain paid programs, but are repositories of free applications, in fact, a kind of "mirror" of Google Play. APKMirror, in turn, includes programs not published in the official store, as well as experimental versions of applications.
Regardless of which resource you choose, you must allow the installation of applications from unknown sources in your device settings.
How do I update apps installed from unofficial sources?
The only problem with installing apps from third-party sources is that you won't get updates. This applies to cases when you do not have Google services or the installed application is not available in your region. Therefore, in order to update the program, you will have to download the new version again. But there is a better way - these are special applications.
APKUpdater
APKUpdater is a small utility that looks for updates for everyone installed applications on the device and notifies about their availability. The program has only two tabs: the first one displays a list of all available applications, the second - the updates available for them.
If there is a new version of the application, the utility shows a link to download it. APKUpdater looks for updates not only in the official Google Play store (via APK Downloader), but also on APKMirror and APKPure resources. Thus, in a couple of clicks, you can update all applications installed from unofficial sources, and even those that are not on Google Play.
In the APKUpdater settings, you can select or exclude certain sources: Google Play, APKMirror, and APKPure. In addition to release updates, the utility allows you to receive alpha and beta versions of applications. APKUpdater can check for updates in the background and notify the user about it. This action can be set to repeat daily or weekly.
In general, APKUpdater acts more as a tool for finding new versions of installed applications, with which you can always keep programs on your smartphone or tablet up to date. If at the same time the utility knew how to independently update applications, this would be an ideal solution.
APKPure App
APKPure App is an alternative app store that is the official client of the APKPure service. Unlike APKUpdater, the utility allows you to search and download APKs of games and applications from only one source.
APKPure has a simple classic interface and user-friendly content structure. The main advantage of the application is the ability to update installed programs. The utility automatically detects the availability of new versions of applications and notifies the user about it. In addition, APKPure has a feature to auto-install downloaded APK files and remove software packages after they are installed.
As you can see, there are worthy alternatives to the Google Play store, so in the absence of the latter, you can always install almost any application on your smartphone or tablet.
Sometimes it is not possible to update applications in the Play Market due to errors on Android. Each error has its own code, knowing which you can fix it in a few minutes. If you can't solve problems with updating or installing new applications through the Play Market, let's find out how to fix and fix them together.
When updating or downloading from the Play Market via Wi-Fi or Mobile Internet, an error may occur when receiving data from the server, in this case we try again in a few minutes. Servers may be overloaded or technical work is underway. When there is not enough space on the memory card, remove unnecessary programs, the cache and the error will go away.
Error codes
963, 906, 907 - the error message appears when the user tries to update the application through the Play Market on smartphones like HTC One, sometimes on Moto G and other models.
- we delete the data of several applications. Go to Settings - Applications - Play Store- Clear cache. Now we go back to the list of all applications and look for the "Download Manager" tab, click "Erase Data";
- the second way is to uninstall recent updates that may not work correctly due to flaws. Open the "About Application" tab on the Play Store again and click on the "Remove Updates" button. Probably Android will ask you to reinstall newest version programs when opened, this means that the method did not work;
- the third way is to disconnect the memory card on the Android device. Go to Settings - Memory - Remove SD card and after that, go to the Play Store, try to update or install the desired game or program. If successful, reattach the SD card to expand the memory of the device;
- we try to throw an application that is not updated to the internal memory or vice versa, to the external one, depending on where it is located. Settings - Applications - (Name of the program or game) - Move to SD card. We test the performance by trying to update the problematic application in the Play Market.
The first two methods are the most effective and should work when these errors appear on your Android phone or tablet.
406, 413, 491, 504, 506, 905 - downloading files from the store is not available, the codes are different, but the solutions are the same for all of the above:
- we erase the cache and Play Store data through the settings;
- if the problem remains relevant, then delete the application data " Google services Play ”, but it will erase everything related to the store: databases, settings, attached accounts.
491, 923 - download or update is not possible. We delete the Google account in the settings, reboot the Android device and add it again.
How to update apps without the Play Market
You can install or update programs, games on Android manually by downloading the APK file to the device, then installing it. For example, let's use a service - a link that downloads an installation file from a store, then gives it to you:
- go to the Play Store;
- select the application and copy the URL in the address bar of the browser;
- open the service, insert the link, click "Generate Download Link";
- settings - Security - Unknown sources (enable).
When the file is downloaded to Android, we look for it in the device downloads and click to start the installation. It is better to download updated content in the Play Market, there will always be a fresh version of the program. If downloaded to your computer, then use USB connection to transfer the APK file to Android. Important: it is better not to install programs, games from dubious sources in this way.
What to do if the application update failed due to an error? The reasons can be different, poor Internet connection, little space on the phone, or the df-dla-15 code that is incomprehensible to a common user. Take note of the general recommendations for resolving update problems as soon as possible:
- check the internet;
- restart your smartphone, tablet;
- clean the Android system using CCleaner for example;
- roll back updates to the Play Market or the problematic application;
- restore default settings.
I hope this information will help you figure out how to quickly update and download content from the Play Market.
Many owners of Android smartphones are familiar with this problem: Google Play does not update applications. He either does not update them at all, or freezes in the process, slowing down the system and not leading to a positive result. There can be several reasons for the problem, as well as options for solving it.
Auto-update apps in Google Play Market
If the owner of a smartphone with Android is not worried about the freezing of updates, but their complete absence, then you need to check the auto-update in the Play Market. To do this, find the settings in the Play Market application menu.
Open "Auto-update applications".
If it says "Never", then you need to check another item.
If you choose auto-update only via Wi-Fi, then the application will not waste the usual mobile traffic... This can always be changed manually if necessary.
Full queue of updates in the Google Play Market
The following problem often arises: the Play Market is annoying by the fact that it constantly updates all programs, including unimportant ones. For example, you need to update your mobile bank or download a new application, but Play Market persistently updates messengers, Youtube and everything else.
You should go to Google Play settings and click "My Apps and Games". It can be clean there.
And a whole list of updates may open, waiting in line.
The extra ones should be closed by clicking on the cross on the right. If there is no cross and the inscription "Waiting for download", then this is not the problem.Extra data cache
Sometimes Google Play freezes while updating apps. The loading icon flashes, but nothing else happens. The easiest way to solve the problem is to clear the cache from "garbage".
To do this, find the "Applications" item in the settings and open the Google Play Market. If there is no such section, then at the top select the "All applications" tab.
Open "Memory" and click "Clear cache". Do the same with the Google Play Services section.
Android versions are different, so the names and locations of the buttons may differ from those shown in the photo. Despite this, it is not difficult to determine the correspondence.
Removing updates
If clearing the cache does not help (even after restarting the device), then something else is interfering with the system.
You can try to uninstall updates: open the Google Play Market and click on 3 dots in the upper right corner.
After restarting the Google Play Market, a standard question about the agreement with the terms will appear. Click "OK" and continue with the normal work with the application.
A warning !!! : in some cases, after uninstalling updates, Google Play also disappears. It's frustrating, but the app can be downloaded again. Situations are different, there is always a share of risk. You should also pay attention to the messages when removing updates to the "Google Play Services" section.
Clearing the cache and deleting data
A more "harsh" way to remove unnecessary data that interferes with the operation of the system:
- expand settings;
- open "Applications";
- select the "All Applications" tab;
- find "Google Play Services";
- select "Memory" - "Clear cache";
- again "Memory" - "Location management" - "Delete all data";
- find the Google Play Market;
- select "Memory" - "Clear cache" - "Erase data".
After such cleaning, the application will perform its first function (installation or update) for a long time.
Before stopping processes and deleting data in Google Play Services, it is better to spend a little time to eliminate other variants of the problem. Sometimes it's a network failure. It is worth checking your internet connection and mobile data rate. It happens that the problem lies in a banal lack of space on the device or in the wrong time zone in the settings.
